At CroisiEurope, innovation is at the heart of river exploration. Our three paddlewheelers, the MS Elbe Princesse, the MS R.E. Waydelich L.J, and the MS Loire Princesse, perfectly embody our ability to push the boundaries of river navigation. Thanks to this technology, inspired by 19th-century steamships, we are the only company capable of navigating certain rivers with particularly shallow draughts, offering exclusive itineraries across Europe.
Technology adapted to shallow waters
Unlike traditional vessels with conventional propulsion, these ships are equipped with side-mounted paddlewheels, enabling them to navigate rivers where depths are sometimes as shallow as one meter. This unique technical feature opens up routes typically inaccessible to cruise ships while ensuring optimal comfort on board.
An exclusive experience on the Loire
With the MS Loire Princesse, CroisiEurope is the only cruise line offering itineraries on the Loire, Europe's last wild river. Thanks to its paddlewheel propulsion, this once-challenging river now reveals its wonders to passengers, from majestic castles to breathtaking landscapes.
Unparalleled navigation on the Elbe and its tributaries
Our paddlewheelers go beyond the Loire. The MS Elbe Princesse and the MS R.E. Waydelich L.J provide exceptional cruises on the Rhine, Elbe, and Moldau rivers, connecting Berlin, Prague, and other historic sites along lesser-known waterways.
By combining technological innovation with timeless charm, our paddlewheelers redefine river cruising, offering unique and exclusive itineraries. They invite you to discover Europe from a fresh perspective, gliding along the water and venturing off the beaten path.
Mountains have always fascinated explorers and adventurers seeking new challenges. Among them was Yuko Maki, a pioneering Japanese mountaineer who made history with a legendary feat: the first successful ascent of the Eiger, one of the most formidable peaks in the Swiss Alps. Born in 1894, Maki was passionate about mountaineering and dreamed of conquering Europe's peaks. At a time when major expeditions were dominated by Western climbers, his 1921 ascent of the Eiger alongside three Swiss guides -Fritz Amatter, Samuel Brawand, and Fritz Steuri- remains a milestone in mountaineering history.
Unlike the fearsome North Face, Maki and his team reached the summit via the South-West ridge, paving the way for future ascents and securing his place among the pioneers of high-altitude exploration.
The Eiger, nicknamed "the Ogre," is an iconic Alpine peak, towering over the Interlaken region and facing the Jungfrau and Mönch mountains. This awe-inspiring Alpine landscape, where every ridge tells a story of adventure and perseverance, continues to captivate explorers and nature lovers alike.
Effortless immersion in the Swiss Peaks
While the Eiger demanded extraordinary courage and endurance from climbers like Yuko Maki, today you can experience the majesty of the Alps without crampons or ropes, thanks to our Heart of Alsace & Swiss Alps cruise.
On this extraordinary journey, you'll explore the landscapes that have shaped the legacy of mountaineering. From Basel to Interlaken, you'll traverse lush valleys, dramatic gorges, and majestic mountain passes. The highlight of the trip is a scenic train ride to the Jungfraujoch, Europe's highest railway station, where you'll take in breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier and the legendary peaks that have challenged the world's greatest climbers.
Pioneer Spirit on the Water
Are you ready to follow in the footsteps of the pioneers?
This cruise is an invitation to discover the soul of the mountains, where nature reigns supreme and every panorama tells a story of adventure.
